Step 1 - Registration

Contact one of our friendly Training Advisers on 01388 721200 to book your course. They'll send you our Starter Pack which contains all the material you'll need.
This will help you throughout the entire process from obtaining your provisional licence to sitting your practical test at a later date.

Step 2 - Application

No medical is needed for B+E, and your Theory and Hazard Pass Certificates are still valid from your car licence.

Step 3 - Training

We offer a 3 day course or we can tailor the lessons to individual needs over a number of weeks. We can also arrange evening and weekend training if this is required.

Step 2 - Application

You will need to take a short medical to make sure that you are fit to drive and this can be carried out by our dedicated driver medical centre local to you.

After your medical, you simply send away the forms provided in the Starter Pack to apply for your Provisional Licence.

Step 3 - Training

To qualify you'll need to pass a Theory Test followed by Practical Training, which is conducted at a Test Centre local to you.

The first 2 hour lesson will be an assessment drive where the instructor will be able to observe you driving then advise you of how many lessons are needed to meet the required standard.

We can arrange your Theory and Hazard Tests on your behalf, or go to dft.gov.uk/dsa and follow the links.

LGV Driver CPC Course Module 2 Case Studies

The case studies are scenarios or a set of circumstances that you may encounter in your working life as a professional driver. You will have 7 different case studies with between 6 and 8 questions. You will be asked 50 questions in total and have 90 minutes to complete the test. You need 40 correct to pass.

 There are five types of case studies that you may be presented with: 

Multiple Choice - choosing your answer from a number of possibilities
Multi Response - selecting more than once choice from a number of options
Hot Spot - using the mouse and clicking on an appropriate area of an illustration
Audio - listening to an audio clip, then choosing an answer from a number of options
Short text - you may also be asked to provide a short text answer by using the keyboard
You will be given your results within 10 minutes of completion.

LGV Driver CPC Course Module 4 Practical Demonstration Test

The test is performed at your local driving test centre and lasts 30 minutes. Candidates arrive with the vehicle which they will use to demonstrate the answers to the questions asked by the examiner.
You will also need to demonstrate your knowledge of load securing using the demo trolley.

The Practical test assesses the candidate's knowledge and ability in the following areas:

Loading the vehicle with due regard for the safety rules and proper vehicle use
Ensuring security of the vehicle and its contents
Preventing criminality and trafficking of illegal immigrants
Assessing emergency situations
Preventing physical risks
Carrying out a vehicle safety check
The above is classified into 5 topic areas with a pass mark of 15% out of a maximum 20% in each topic and an overall score of 80%.We would recommend 'A Guide To Driving Large Vehicles' as a good reference book to read over. On the day of the test please remember to bring both parts of your licence and your module 2 pass certificate.

CPC Periodic Training

Twinway are able to provide the class room based training and qualfication that all lorry drivers are required by law to complete. the CPC consists of 35 hours and this can be booked as a block booking over a five day period or we can offer flexible courses so training days can be completed on a weekly or monthly basis as well as more importantly on weekends to save drivers using annual leave or taking time off work. The driver cpc is valid for 5 years. GET QUALIFIED STAY QUALIFIED!!

Refresher Training/Assesment Drives

We offer flexible refresher training on all of our vehicles and can tailor the lessons to suit your individual needs and requirements. this type of training will help to increase confidence or help to gain extra practice before a new job/ job interview/assessment drive. we can provide you with an assessment letter stating your continued training and your progress.

Residential Courses

We can offer residential courses for every category to driver trainees from all over the UK.

Come to County Durham to stay for the duration of your driving course and we can offer you up to 5 nights accommodation on a bed an breakfast basis included in the cost of your practical course. You will be staying in a good standard local guesthouse within 15 minutes drive of our training centre.

Our rates are very competitive and we feel that we can offer you massive savings by travelling to our centre in comparison to using your local LGV training provider.
